A Poison Pill For Progress
Sometimes it’s not the initial blast, but the aftershock that brings down the avalanche. As I and many other observers noted in the wake of Trump’s election loss and certification day coup attempt, the fascist legacy of Trumpism will long outlive the actual Trump presidency, and even the Klepto Kaiser himself. In today’s edition of Film Sessions on Media Madness, we join lefty YouTube creator “Shaun Vids” to look at one of the poison pills Trump left behind; the widely-mocked 1776 Commission Report. While it’s true that Biden had the report deleted from the White House website, the magic of the internet ensures that it will live on forever; for better, or more likely, for worse.
What do attacks on the 1619 project, anti-intellectualism, and Nazi conspiracies about “Cultural Marxism” all have in common? They’re all among the many “gifts” bestowed upon us by Trump’s special advisory commission of fascists, conspiracy theorists, and guys who wear diapers in public to own the libs.
