The Skinny: Biden His Time Edition

Editor’s note: The Skinny is a semi-regular, informal journal posted on my always free-to-read Patreon Blog, that collects together my work from social media; posts are typically edited and expanded from their original text for clarity.

Playing Catch-Up With a Septuagenarian

As I mentioned recently on Mastodon, the fact that Downmarket Mussolini’s slow-motion “chicken coup” kept me writing and talking about Trump, or at least Trumpism, until practically the last moment of his presidency, has kind of put me in a bind here. Under normal circumstances, I would have preferred to use Donald Trump’s lame duck period after the election to kind of outline how I feel about the incoming administration, and what I expect from president Biden (spoiler: nothing particularly good for the left.) Obviously, that didn’t happen for “reasons” and I’ve been forced to hit the ground running in an effort to make up that lost time.

To address this then, I’m going to publish a few types of posts that focus on offering brief thoughts on a variety of issues related to Joe Biden, his administration and their political decisions or positions; posts like “Six Things I Think” features, or today’s edition of The Skinny over on my (free to read) Patreon Blog. In this way, I hope to quickly give readers a good idea of where I’m coming from this administration, while simultaneously staying up to date with current political developments and controversies.

In today’s offering of The Skinny, I look at why I’m not particularly interested in “unity” with white nationalists, why this administration’s foreign policy already sounds too much like Trump’s, and why I don’t want to hear any crap about giving a decrepit mummy like Joe Biden a clean slate. Along the way, I also debunk media muppet nonsense about the Covid relief checks, and push back violently against the brewing idea that electing this caretaker president represents a new Democratic Party Camelot moment.

“The reality here is that Joe Biden is a caretaker president, beholden to the Democrat Party’s donor class, who lucked into a run against a historically unpopular, openly fascist reality TV show host, who’d just put a quarter million (at the time) Americans in the ground, while pretending COVID-19 wasn’t real. This guy is going to be a one term president who does whatever the f*ck Wall Street and the Military Industrial Complex tells him to, while preparing Kamala Harris for her 2024 primary run.”
