Some More News on Fascism and the Whitelash

Originally published on December 6th, 2020, this brief “I told you so” blog post about the fascist moment in America was primarily a failed attempt to head off gaslighting by crypto-reactionaries in the online “left” and arguments about America’s supposed immunity to fascism. Unsurprisingly; it didn’t work and eventually I would publish at least four more full length essays touching on why the “it’s not fascism” crowd is dangerously wrong. In that moment of blissful ignorance however, I found sharing Cody’s excellent video to be quite therapeutic.

Drawing deeply on American history, including the Jim Crow era and the Civil Rights era, this thirty-eight minute Some More News video demonstrates that Trump and Trumpism are merely another extension of the historical fascist whitelash that has come at any point African Americans demanded equal treatment in our society. Far from being an exception to the rule, Trump is in fact the logical outcome of American political and racial ideology, combined with capitalist predation. From Bircherism to neoliberalism, the whole Pig Empire establishment has contributed to the rise of Americanized fascism today.

With or without Trump; America remains The Pork Reich.
