November Small Ball Update
Editor’s note: the upshot in having to post your blogs to both your main site and Patreon is that when you get to the end of the month “odds and ends” kind of post, it’s shorter… I guess? This then is a collection of links to work that I didn’t publish or repost on the main site over the past month and a half or so. I should also mention that we have a new Instagram account I’m still tinkering with, and that I updated our Features Page which you can check out here.
Please note this piece is reposted from my Patreon blog because it was tedious enough to write the first time; please help me fight censorship by sharing my work so some day I can stop making these type of cross-pollination posts.
Thanks!
Can’t You Read Links:
Recommended Reading – Anarcho-Syndicalism Theory and Practice by Rudolph Rocker
A short blog post featuring a description of, a quote from and a link to a PDF of Rudolph Rocker’s foundational work on Anarcho-Syndicalism. Why should you read this book in 2020? Because at this point both a communist revolution and the end of labor class drudge work seem unlikely to happen, but there’s nothing to stop us from forming unions that go beyond the scope of the workplace. There’s more than one way to conduct a class war.
Recommended Reading – Fascism: What It Is and How To Fight It by Leon Trotsky
Continuing on with our “book report” sort of posts, I also published a short description, quote and link to a readable copy of Leon Trotsky’s still hugely important work on fascism. In my opinion, it is impossible to understand fascism, especially modern fascism without examining it’s relationship to capital using a Marxist analysis – in this work, Trotsky provides the beginnings of that analysis.
And in our third (and final, for this month) bookish post, I once again put together a quote from, a free link to and a brief description of an extremely important Marxist work that deals with the relationship between capitalism and fascism; specifically Parenti’s “Blackshirts & Reds.” This one sort of picks up where Trotsky’s “Fascism” left off and explores not only the capitalist-fascist evolution but also what that looks like practice, especially after the fall of communism.
A Dangerous Game of Peek-A-Boo
Although this is a links post designed to collect all five of the No Fugazi Podcast series on Fascism episodes I’ve already published here, it also contains a short info-graphic of original analysis about Trump’s post-election flailing, right at the top of the article. I’m including it here for completeness.
Another links post that contains a short info-graphic sized bit of analysis; this time to our Media Madness essay No Magic Man. Once again I am including this here purely for completeness.
Facebook Journal Links:
An extremely short blog post looking at why I’m doing my part to promote independent left wing content creators to beat censorship and algorithmic suppression of left wing ideas.
Video Link Blog: Is Big Government Really the Problem? from the Gravel Institute
A long while back I used to do a post series on weekends that feature essentially a brief write up and a link to a (hopefully) short video made by someone other than me, that I considered educational for aspiring or even sometimes long time leftists. At the end of September I decided to revive this feature – our first video features the always incisive Briahna Joy Gray and looks to counter one of the most common right wing propaganda lies in our discourse, that government (big or otherwise) is automatically bad.
Video Link Blog: Capitalism vs. Freedom from the Gravel Instute
Our second video once again comes from the so-called “Gravel Teens” and this time features popular Democratic Socialist and activist Zephyr Teachout who manages to thoroughly debunk the idea that capitalism equates to freedom in our society – in about six minutes. Great video.
A longer write up for a longer video I shared as part of a special apocalypse Thanksgiving blog post. Clocking in at 70 minutes, this video dissecting everything about Ben Shapiro on, Ben’s own terms. Get ready for logic, facts, reason and a simply massive number of examples where Ben Shapiro applies none of these qualities to his analysis because his a muppet mercenary bigot.
This past Sunday, I posted a roughly eight minute clip from Baldwin’s arguments against Buckley in which the celebrated (with good reason) American thinker elucidates the experience of White Supremacy in relation to “the American Dream.” This is one of the most famous debates in Pig Empire history for a reason, but why has America never asked the important question of why James Baldwin had to defend his humanity against a fraud cracker like Buckley?
Pretty self explanatory; a short blog post laying out my plans for creating content in the post-2020 election era – features a little bit of venting because at the time I wrote it, Trump’s absurd slacker coup was still in its infancy.
A Thank You Note To The Folks At Naked Capitalism
A very brief note of thanks to Yves Smith, Naked Capitalism and in specific Lambert Strether for sharing links to my work on this extremely popular website; it’s hard to go it alone and I appreciate all the help I can get from both big websites and individual readers.
