Odds and Ends: Thick Skinnys and Malcolm on the Margins
Editor’s note: in light of the fact that online censorship has now forced me to cross-pollinate most of my full length essay material across multiple websites, these Odds and Ends features have pretty much become a vehicle for sharing recent editions of “The Skinny” from my Patreon blog and my shorter, blog style info-graphic posts on Can’t You Read – a Tumblr site I maintain almost entirely because it works so well with large images containing a bunch of text.
In retrospect, I probably should have posted a smaller version of this Odds and Ends post a couple of weeks sooner but it’s too late to change that now – as a consequence there’s a few more articles to share than normal; check them out below.
The Skinny (at Patreon)
The Skinny is a regular feature over on my (completely free) Patreon blog. The basic idea is to gather up all of the informal essay-style analysis I publish on various social media platforms and put it into a single, easy-to-read Patreon post. This allows me to not only easily reference my work, but also retain some permanence for the vast quantities of writing I tend to do on social media each day. It also allows readers to keep up with my work without having to follow separate accounts on Facebook, Mastodon and Twitter. You can check out all of my recent “The Skinny” posts by clicking on either the links or the images below:
Impeachment Politics, Ideology in my Writing and Anti-Climate Conspiracy Coverage in Media
Warren’s Elephant, the Fake Re-Radicalization of Liz and Why Dems Really Chase “Swing Voters.”
False Balance Helps Fascism, War in Syria and Western Origins of Sunni Radical Terrorism
Fascist Financial Incentives, Biden Should Drop Out and Squad Goals
The Media’s Double Bernie Standard and Clinton’s McCarthyite Moment
Liz’s Technocratic Incrementalism, Liberalism, Foreign Policy & the Gaetz Gang’s Gambit
Can’t You Read (Tumblr)
Which leaves the info-graphic and blogging posts I’ve been been writing over at my image blog on “Can’t You Read.” At this point I’ve developed a kind of comfortable rhythm with these combination posts, which usually consist of a roughly two hundred quote or argument, and then another eight hundred or so words supporting the image – in other words, a nice, well-rounded size for a blog entry.
