Odds and Ends: A Skinny Week and Malcolm Tucker Goes to War
Editor’s note: as we covered in my last site update notice, a recent change in my writing schedule and what kinds of posts I share here on ninaillingworth.com means that I have to alter the nature of some of the regular features here on this site. As almost all of my recent writing has been informal opinion-based blogging, all of the links I have to share this week (and going forward) are from my (free) Patreon Blog and Can’t You Read.
The Skinny (at Patreon)
The Skinny is a new regular feature over on my (completely free) Patreon blog that I’ve been trying to publish every weekday. The basic idea is to gather up all of the informal essay-style analysis I publish on social media and put it into a single, easy-to-read post published at the end of the day. This allows me to not only easily reference my work, but also retain some permanence for the vast quantities of writing I tend to do on social media each day. It also allows readers to keep up with my work without having to follow separate accounts on Facebook, Mastodon and Twitter. You can check out all of my recent “The Skinny” posts by clicking on either the links or the images below:
ICE’s Der Stürmer Turn, Biden’s Racist Ideas & WFP Smears: September 19th
Co-opting the Labor Class, Trump’s Foreign Policy & 2020 Dem Primary Narratives: September 20th
Trump’s War on the Homeless, How to Write about Fascists & Never Bernie Narratives: September 23rd
Labor Class Voting Theory, Climate Catastrophe & Socialism and “Fake News”: September 24th
Can’t You Read (Tumblr)
Which leaves the sporadic “in brief” posts I’ve been recently been writing over at my image blog on “Can’t You Read.” Although it’s been a little while since I’ve have the time or energy to write a full length, topical book review and essay, I have taken to posting short meme-length arguments under the extraordinarily imaginative tag #NinaQuotes and I’ve also gone back to posting Quickshot Quotations from famous authors in my library. Check them out by clicking on the links below:
Nina on “Why You Don’t Understand The US Government Under Trump”
Nina on “Why You Should Stop Calling Yourself a Progressive”
Nina on “Why the Ongoing Class War Informs the Battle Between Sanders and Warren”
Quickshot Quotation: Malcolm X on seeking truth and humanity
Quickshot Quotation: Smedley Butler on the idealistic propaganda used to sell war
