The Intersection of Racism & Capital Is Often Fatal For Black Activists
Ultimately, this May 18th, 2019 piece, which is one of my favorites, looked to synthetize some of the concepts about racism in the Pig Empire, that I touched on in my earlier essays about Assata Shakur’s innocence, and the staggering importance of Imbram X. Kendi’s book, “Stamped From The Beginning.” The simple truth is that there are two kinds of racism in the so-called west; an ignorant, toothless vulgar racism that doesn’t profit the rich, and a systemized, calculating, organized racism that literally forms the basic of capitalism in settler colonial societies. Talking about the former, can transform even white activists and analysts into a type of bougie liberal social justice hero. Talking about the latter however, makes you an enemy of the entire state and seems to have a habit of getting you perished; as some of the finest thinkers in American history (Malcolm X, Fred Hampton, MLK Jr, Medgar Evers) could attest; if dead men could talk, that is.
Racism in America doesn’t survive by word of mouth as it’s passed on down from hillbilly to Masshole; it’s propagated and sustained by an elite speculator class that relies on it, to churn a profit.
“Furthermore on the rare occasions where economics and racism do intersect in the public discourse, the focus will be entirely on the impact, not the origins of that intersection. You sure as hell aren’t going to hear about how class warfare and structural racism combine to create an understood if unrecognized “under caste” in the American capitalist system. This is because the public discourse primarily serves the interests of elite capital, and it’s obviously in the interests of the ruling class to confine the discussion about racism to the hateful bigotry of broke, ignorant crackers shouting racial slurs in the parking lot of your local Wal-Mart. Why? Because this hides the complicity of the upper classes and obscures the reasons that racism continues to propagate in our society.”
