Blog: No Left Case Against Open Borders (Link)
Editor’s note: as part of the massive site re-organization I’m doing in the new year here in 2021 I’m transferring some offsite writing and links to such, over here to ninaillingworth.com; which includes this ranty blog post from the waning stages of 2018. The idea here is to make it easier for the readers who’ve asked me how to read all of my articles “in one place” to actually do so.
Unfortunately the downside here is that existing readers may get spam notifications for two year old essays whenever I cross-post one; I’ve tried loading a plug-in to block it but it’s not clear that this is helping since it’s a process conducted through WordPress itself. Please forgive me in advance for any unwanted email notifications this post causes you, but alas the fact that billion dollar tech companies are trying to keep people from seeing my work, kind of forces my hand on this one – my apologies.

Back in the late stages of 2018, and timed out with Trump’s absurd mid-term election gambit surrounding the fake “invasion” by migrant caravans the GOP was hyping up, Angela Nagle released one of the most absurd “left wing” thinkpieces I’ve ever read; The Left Case against Open Borders which tellingly, had to be published in the conservative American Affairs Journal. At the time, I didn’t even consider the piece worthy of a response, but you can find one here on Libcom.org that’s shall we say, very thorough.
Predictably however, this discourse lead to numerous appearances by influencers in what I now call “the contrarian left” on Tucker Carlson and spawned a larger debate among twitchy reactionaries who just want healthcare too. After several days of allowing this to fester in my mentions on social media, I lost my sh*t and decided to write a short, very angry blog response to the so-called leftists telling me harsh border controls are a necessary evil in a democratic socialist society. A position which is of course racist, reactionary and fails to account for the fact that it’s pig empire imperialism and neofeudalism that’s bringing these “waves” of migrants to our shores in the first place. While it’s hardly my best writing, I can say with some conviction that my sentiment has not altered one iota since.
