Editor’s Note: unfortunately I’ve once again been called away to deal with real world problems in my personal life and thus it’s been a few days since I last posted; I’m currently doing everything in my power to post more but a sudden flurry of minor issues that must be addressed almost immediately have kept me in “read and react” mode for roughly the past week. As such, today’s Brief Thought is probably coming out a few days later than I would prefer but concerns a subject I feel will remain relevant for at least the next four years – the Democratic Party’s complete refusal to come left & meet the voters they lost during this past primary season in the run up to the 2016 US election:

If the truth be told, the shine has long since come off Keith Ellison and the Berniecrats for me; probably around about when I found out that Ellison had supported military intervention in Syria, or when he refused to admit the primary had been rigged against Sanders, or when he reneged on his promise to ban corporate donations – hell, maybe it was just that time he tried to gaslight me on behalf of Hillary fucking Clinton; who can say for sure?

What I do know however is that it is now crystal clear than the establishment, corporate lackey wing of the Democratic Party has no intention of sharing even a modicum of power and in between taking wild stabs at Donald Trump with a completely absurd Russian Manchurian Candidate conspiracy theory; they will continue to attack rather than compromise with the left wing supporters who’re drifting away from the party by the thousands. While Ellison’s apparent willingness to bow down to mainstream Party pressure at nearly every turn makes me seriously doubt he would have brought about radical change as DNC chair; his selection would have at least given the Sanders wing of the party some hope of influencing the 2020 candidate and the selection process for that candidate.

As it stands however, picking a soulless, establishment apparatchik that represents mainstream, corporate Democrats with every fiber of his being and who is unquestionably the primary architect of racially-charged smears against Bernie Sanders during the Democratic Nomination process for 2016; sends an extremely clear message to the party’s dwindling left wing – and that message, sure as shit ain’t about “unity.”

Somewhere just on the edge of your TV screen, Hillary Clinton watches from the shadows, biding her time – there’s still a long way to go before she can secure the 2020 Democratic nomination but with the election of Tom Perez, she’s unarguably one step closer.
